As I mentioned in my post about The Vatican City, I loved roaming the streets of Rome. We had a mix of weather when we were there, with it alternating between humid, seriously hot – and dark, cold and rainy. But, it was nice to see a mix of seasons in the few days we had.
It was so lovely strolling the city, being under the ancient Cypress trees, witnessing beautiful statues, walking over bridges & through the ruins. Even the little things such as a couple of bikes leaning against a wall, so much beauty.
We loved the ‘happy hour’ that most bars offered, where you buy a cocktail or specific drink and you can help yourself to a large selection of tapas, and, so long as you kept drinking you could keep eating all night.
In fact, we became pretty serious about our food in Rome, skipping breakfast’s so that we had room to fit in coffee’s, deli food, early dinner’s, tapas & cocktails, and – always ice-cream to finish! (the sad looking dropped ice-cream below wasn’t mine by the way – phew).
Wow – I didn’t realise how much we indulged until I just saw it written down – we clearly worked up an appetite with all the walking.
