Herbal teas are a pleasure I’m just starting to enjoy. I’ve always been a tea drinker but anything more adventurous than English Breakfast felt a bit too much like drinking potpourri.
Lately I’ve been open to re-trying things I had once dismissed, it started with a cup of chamomile (which I once detested), I poured one a few weeks back when I wanted to de-stress and found that I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had me retrying teas I thought I didn’t like, such as Earl Grey. I found them strangely appealing and now it’s turned into a love affair – where I have a cupboard stacked full of different varieties.
This Dilmah Rose with French Vanilla has become a favourite – it permeates the senses with a heady floral infusion as you breathe in the aroma of the cup, but delivers a whole new sensation with the taste weighted toward a sweet vanilla tang and only a hint of rose, keeping it from tasting too much like you’re drinking perfume. Although, as I become accustom to the flavour I’m finding that I want to leave the tea bag in for longer, so that the rose intensity is stronger.
I’ve found herbal teas to be a nice alternative to replace my usual habits, for instance, winding down of an evening with a glass of wine – & it’s a nice new habit to have!
